She might not know but she’s always been like a second mom to me, being the eldest and all. She left home very early in her life, in a bid to help the family and to make something of herself. She’s the epitome of the strong intelligent woman that I aspire to be, adaptable and successful in whatever she puts her mind to achieve.
Though she’s away for most of my life, I still look up and respect her in every way I know how from afar. In recent years, I get to spend more time with her and it’s almost like making up for lost time. Fate’s timing is impeccable for I know if it’s any earlier, it would have been very different.
When the younger me was going through hard times, I used to cling on to the fairy tales books she bought me to remind myself that I’m strong and there’s a happy ending at some point. Those books were a blessing to me, which I passed on to my nieces in the hope that they find comfort in some of the stories like I did, when they need it. The books definitely gave me the perspective and core values I needed plus they jump start my love to read.
Well that was before and in this present time, her action and words of wisdom instil the faith I need to know that I’m heading in the right direction in life even though our conversations never touched the subject matter.
Beautiful – Creative – Strong
Lisa, my sister and my second mom…thank you for all the love, guidance, support and your precious insights.
