S*** happens, learn from it

The wind rushes through from the back of my head, blowing my hair into my line of sight. I looked up towards the ledge and questioned myself ‘how?!’. Was it the fingers or the foot? Doesn’t matter now.

I always wondered what it would be like. Flashes of memories, visuals of successes and failures maybe. No way near what I thought it would be.

It did take longer than I expected, the thought that went through my mind was “oh shit!” and all I could ask for was that it would be peaceful.

I was fortunate to escape the incident with only bruises and a story of how stupid I was to have put myself in that situation.

I promise myself long time ago that I’m the sole custodian of my life and I’m responsible for everything that happens to it. The results of every experience and decision are lessons that made me who I am as time passes. This is me, learning my lessons…

  • Set expectations before going on any adventure, big or small, even with people I know well
  • Trust my intuition and judgment
  • This is from a good friend and someone I considered a mentor, ‘never completely dependent on others no matter how good they are or seemed to be’
  • Prepare, prepare and have fun

There are, of course, more personal and emotional lessons that are more soap opera-ish. Those will need a bit more reflection and analysis as to what led me to the incident and how I recover from it.

A bit wiser now…I hope.
